Publishing DIY: March 1, 2014

If self-publishing is what you’re after, you’re in luck. On March 1st, starting at 10am, the Federation of BC Writers has organized presentations on the topic. Learn a bit about everything—from editing, self-marketing, to cover design, printing and more. EAC-BC will have a table set up at the event, so come by and say hello.

2014 EAC Conference

Still a ways away, but worth jotting down in your calendar. This year’s EAC conference will take place in Toronto from June 6 to 8th. For those wishing to attend, registration starts on February 21st, with early bird rates for EAC members until April 11th.

I was resolved to take an EAC workshop this year and registered for the first likely candidate, Eight-Step Editing. Wow – did this workshop impress me! Not only did I find the content engaging and helpful, but Jim Taylor presented his program with sage advice, solid research support, amusing anecdotes and useful examples from his long experience as an editor.

Regardless of the platforms you choose, it’s important to maintain a professional profile that communicates your ability to prospective clients.
