What makes writing feel authentic, inclusive, and emotionally resonant? How can editors help authors create relatable writing to ensure their characters and stories reflect real human experiences without falling into stereotypes or tokenism?
Editing for relatable writing
Join Eliana West, author and founder of Writers for Diversity, for a lively and practical discussion on editing for connection, authenticity, and representation. In this workshop, Eliana will explore what “relatable writing” really means, how editors can recognize when a character’s perspective rings false, and how to provide thoughtful, constructive feedback that supports both the story and the writer’s intent.
Drawing from her experience as a romance author specializing in diverse narratives and as an advocate for diverse stories, Eliana will share real-world strategies and examples to help editors become better partners in inclusive storytelling.
This is both a dialogue and a workshop. Bring your questions, concerns, or any work you’re struggling with, and we can discuss it together.
